Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS)

The process of Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) is essentially SLS prototype printing, but for the creation of metal parts/prototypes. The file undergoes the same process of being divided into layers to be assembled one slice at a time, but instead of using a liquid resin, DMLS uses a proprietary mixture to output metal parts. The technology fuses the proprietary metal powder into a solid part by melting it with a  focused laser beam. Parts are built up additively layer by layer. DMLS can create prototypes with highly complex geometries in a short period of time.
