Multi-Jet Printing (MJP)

MJP works almost like an ink jet printer. These materials are similar to those used in SLA but use ultra-violet light instead of lasers. The parts have excellent resolution and the materials have a variety or properties. This technology is primarily used for smaller parts that can be accurate and not very difficult to finish.

The printer creates the model one layer at a time by spreading a layer of resins and printing a binder in the cross-section of the part using an inkjet-like process. This is repeated until every layer has been printed. The strength of bonded powder prints can be enhanced with wax or thermoset polymer impregnation. Supports are used to support overhanging features during construction. Supports are removable or dissolvable upon completion of the print.

Each photopolymer layer is cured with UV light or solidified by temperature after it is jetted. The gel-like support material, which is designed to support complicated geometries, can be removed by hand or hot air drying.
